A practical start
An SME built to give faster access to credit in a client‑friendly environment.
Biashara Trading Company Limited was incorporated in 2014 to provide accessible, short‑term bridge financing for the growing Ugandan market.

The company started as an SME focused on faster access to credit in a convenient, client‑friendly environment.
Its ambition is to develop from a money‑lending business into a microfinance institution and, over time, a broader financial‑services provider.
That ambition has not changed how it works day to day. Speed is combined with transparent communication, disciplined assessment and personal service — the same file standards applied to every client, whoever they are.
Where we are going
From a money‑lending business, to a microfinance institution, to a broader financial‑services provider. The first step is where the company stands; the next two are the stated direction.
An SME built to give faster access to credit in a client‑friendly environment.
To become a microfinance institution serving a fast‑growing mass market.

What guides us
To become a microfinance institution serving a fast‑growing mass market.
Direction: microfinance. A strategic ambition.
To provide reliable, transparent and sustainable financial solutions that help entrepreneurs transform viable ideas into profitable success.
Method: transparency. Terms disclosed before signature.
We deliver responsive service, communicate approved terms clearly and apply disciplined assessment so that lending decisions remain practical, responsible and sustainable.
Outcome: sustainability, for client and company alike.
Values
Five commitments that decide how a file is handled — before, during and after approval.
We listen carefully, respond promptly and build long‑term relationships through useful service.
We communicate approved terms, charges and expectations clearly, in writing, before any commitment is made.
We assess ability to repay and structure facilities around an approved need — not the largest amount a client could technically borrow.
We work with discipline, accountability, teamwork and respect, and hold ourselves to the standards we ask of clients.
We support practical financial decisions that strengthen the client and the company over time.
Operating objectives
Biashara’s operating objectives combine client access with a sound credit culture: careful assessment, low delinquency and sustainable operations. The company serves eligible clients across urban, semi‑urban and rural Uganda, subject to its operating capacity and approved requirements.
